Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub with Rob Rich
Join CanSurvive Australia for our next Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub on Wednesday 14 October 2026, featuring Sunshine Coast practitioner and instructor Rob Rich. This practical session will give attendees the opportunity to learn about Ortho-Bionomy, see hands-on demonstrations and ask questions about how this gentle bodywork approach is used in practice.
CanSurvive’s Healing Hub is designed to create space for education, conversation and exploration of complementary approaches to wellbeing. For this session, the focus will be on Ortho-Bionomy and the practical techniques used within it.
Rob Rich is an Advanced Practitioner and Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy and currently operates Ortho-Bionomy clinics on the Sunshine Coast. He has a Bachelor of Natural Resources from the University of New England and describes ongoing learning as an important part of his professional practice.
What is Ortho-Bionomy?
Ortho-Bionomy developed from osteopathy in the mid-1970s. Rob’s website describes the approach as working with the body through gentle techniques rather than painful or forceful manipulation. The emphasis is on positioning, movement and working with the body as a whole.
A typical Ortho-Bionomy session begins with a discussion about what the person would like to work on. The person then lies on a treatment table fully clothed while the practitioner uses a combination of techniques.
Rob’s website explains that the practitioner may look beyond one specific area of the body and consider other areas that may be involved in a broader postural pattern.
For example, someone who attends with discomfort in one area may find that the practitioner also looks at the pelvis, feet, shoulders or other parts of the body. This whole-body approach is one of the features Rob will be able to explain during the Healing Hub.
What will happen at the Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub?
This Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub will be more practical than a standard presentation. Rob will not simply talk through the principles of the approach. He will also provide hands-on demonstrations so attendees can see what the techniques look like in practice.
The demonstrations will help make the session easier to understand, particularly for people who have never encountered Ortho-Bionomy before.
Attendees will be able to observe how the practitioner positions and works with the body, how a session may progress and how the approach differs from techniques that rely on stronger pressure or forceful manipulation.
The session will also provide time for questions. This is an opportunity to learn directly from an experienced practitioner and gain a clearer understanding of what Ortho-Bionomy involves before deciding whether it is something you would like to explore further.
Meet Ortho-Bionomy practitioner Rob Rich
Rob Rich is an Advanced Practitioner and Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
According to Rob’s professional website, he holds a Bachelor of Natural Resources from the University of New England and continues to study and broaden his knowledge. He currently operates Ortho-Bionomy clinics on the Sunshine Coast.
As an instructor as well as a practitioner, Rob brings an educational perspective to this Healing Hub. That makes this session particularly suited to CanSurvive’s aim of helping people access information, ask questions and better understand different complementary approaches.

Why practical demonstrations matter
Reading a description of a bodywork modality can only tell you so much. Seeing it demonstrated can make the approach much easier to understand.
At the Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub, attendees will be able to see the pace of the techniques, the way the body is positioned and the type of practitioner interaction involved.
For people joining in person, the practical demonstrations will be a central part of the morning. Those joining online via Zoom will still be able to follow the presentation, observe the demonstrations that are visible on camera and take part in the educational session from home.
The aim is not to suggest that one complementary approach is right for everyone. Instead, the Healing Hub gives people access to information so they can learn, ask informed questions and make their own decisions in consultation with their healthcare team.
Can complementary therapies sit alongside cancer care?
CanSurvive Australia supports greater choice and access to information for people challenged by cancer. Complementary approaches are explored as part of a broader whole-person conversation around wellbeing, support and quality of life.
Complementary therapies should not be viewed as replacements for conventional cancer treatment. They may instead be explored alongside standard medical care, depending on an individual’s circumstances, preferences and advice from their healthcare professionals.
The Healing Hub is one way CanSurvive provides access to education about different approaches. Each session gives attendees the opportunity to hear from a practitioner, learn about a topic and ask questions in a supportive environment.
For this reason, the October Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub will focus on understanding the modality itself: what it is, how it is approached and what a session may involve.

A practical introduction to Ortho-Bionomy
You do not need to have any previous knowledge of Ortho-Bionomy to attend this Healing Hub.
Whether you are already familiar with complementary therapies, supporting someone affected by cancer or simply interested in learning more about whole-person approaches to wellbeing, the session is designed to be accessible and informative.
The practical format should make this a particularly useful introduction because attendees can see the approach rather than relying only on a verbal explanation.
CanSurvive’s Healing Hub is about creating access to information and encouraging informed conversations. Rob Rich’s session will offer another opportunity to explore a complementary modality, understand how it is practised and ask questions in a welcoming setting.
We look forward to welcoming you in person or online for the Ortho-Bionomy Healing Hub on Wednesday 14 October.
This Healing Hub is provided for educational purposes only.
